Robusta translates Singapore’s kopi trade into form: sturdy slabs and soft curves mirror the sturdiness of ‘tarik’ (the act of pulling coffee) and the melting butter that enriches it. Traditionally, kopi uses Robusta coffee beans for its practicality and affordability. While they are known to be harsher and bitter, they are roasted with margarine and sugar to enhance its flavour, creating a strong, bold and nutty flavour locals have come to love.
